Mr. Ewout Ramon is the Research Assistant to the Director at the United Nations University Institute on Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS). Apart from offering academic and policy support to the Director, Ewout is UNU-CRIS’ focal point in the UNU network for communications, ICT and project management, and coordinates the UNU-CRIS internship programme. He is also the designated gender officer, acts as the UNU-CRIS Green focal point in the Belgian UN network and is involved in the RIKS project. In the past, Mr. Ramon worked on several projects as a Project Researcher. Finalised projects include the FP7 EU project GR:EEN, which dealt with the future role of the EU in the emerging global order; a feasibility study on transnational higher education initiatives; and a study on cross-border cooperation in the Zeelandic-Flemish border region.
Mr. Ramon holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Politics from the University of Ghent and a Master’s degree in European Studies: Transnational and Global Perspectives from the University of Leuven. During his studies, he also pursued a one year exchange programme in International Relations at the Istanbul Bilgi University in Turkey.
Mr. Ramon also participated as the representative of Zimbabwe to the African Development Bank during MUN-NY, was chief responsible of his local youth movement, was a research intern at a European political party and its think tank in Brussels, was a data analyst for a company offering services in the domain of fleet safety and reduction of fuel consumption in Leuven, and started at UNU-CRIS as a communication intern in April 2013.
